A True Story- Hope in Siberia
This is a true story worth retelling. In Feb 2005 in a remote Siberian town 350 people were gathered for the Grand Opening of the first Hubbard College in Siberia. An old woman approaches the stage to tell her story. It all began in the 1970s when she got a hold of a Dianetics Book. She started to read it and knew it was important. She then went home and appled its techniques to her husband who was a hopeless alcoholic. He was cured.
She was a senior Teacher in the village. She then began to do the same to the children in the school. Their illnesses then decreased and the school grades rose. As she predicted the authorities investigated to find out what was causing the remarkable changes. As she expected they didn't approve of her unapproved curriculum and confiscated the book. However, she was prepared as she had hidden 5 translated copies in the homes of friends.
When she had seen the promotion of the Hubbard College opening she was sure it was the same Hubbard who wrote Dianetics. With the help of the people in her village they gathered together enough money for her to make this trip. She traveled in the dead of a Siberian winter for days, riding first in a truck, then a cold rail car and then by bus so she could tell someone "THANK YOU". There was not a dry eye in the place!! What is the mind? Dianetics in 1950 and still in 2005!
L. Ron Hubbard is the Founder of the Church of Scientology. He wrote "Dianetics:The Modern Science of Mental Health in 1950. That was the basic book on the mind and it was a bestseller then and it is still outrageously popular now.
The reason is because the information is true. This book reveals the secrets of mental turmoil and the actual source of psychosomatic pain and depression. The solution is not found in a pill but is found within yourself and the simplicity of it is what gets missed. People all over the world have read this book and applied the principles within it for remarkable results. Its worth your while to check it out.

Actor Tom Cruise Opens Up about his Beliefs in the Church of Scientology

Actor Tom Cruise talks about his 20-year membership in the Church of Scientology as he and Director Steven Spielberg discuss the filming of the soon-to-be-released "War of the Worlds." The film, coming out June 29, plays off Americans' fears about terrorism. Spielberg says he has always wanted to direct a "really mean invasion from outer space." Cruise insists, "I just want to help people."
 SPIEGEL: Your film "War of the Worlds" is named after the futuristic novel of the same name by H.G. Wells, written in 1898. At the end of the novel it says that Earth is "no longer a fenced-in and safe place to live." Doesn't this sentence exactly describe the feeling that Americans have had about life since September 11?
Cruise: It describes the feeling about life all over the world. We live in a world in which we are able to communicate very quickly in many different ways, and yet we find communicating more difficult than ever. When in fact we need communication more urgently than ever, because the enemies that threaten us are universal: drugs, illiteracy and crime. We have to fight against them together. The film is a metaphor for that battle.
SPIEGEL: Why do you go so extremely public about your personal convictions?
Cruise: I believe in freedom of speech. I felt honored to have volunteer Scientology ministers on the set. They were helping the crew. When I'm working on a movie, I do anything I can to help the people I'm spending time with. I believe in communication.
Cruise:The volunteer Scientology ministers were there to help the sick and injured. People on the set appreciated that. I have absolutely nothing against talking about my beliefs. But I do so much more. We live in a world where people are on drugs forever. Where even children get drugged. Where crimes against humanity are so extreme that most people turn away in horror and dismay. Those are the things that I care about. I don't care what someone believes. I don't care what nationality they are. But if someone wants to get off drugs, I can help them. If someone wants to learn how to read, I can help them. If someone doesn't want to be a criminal anymore, I can give them tools that can better their life. You have no idea how many people want to know what Scientology is.

Volunteer Ministers Help in all Corners
The Church of Scientology's travelling Volunteer Minister Centre was launched in Leicester Square bringing simple solutions to every day problems, such as with drugs, crime, conflict and illiteracy. It was housed in a large yellow marquee and was open throughout the day, with over 1,000 visitors by lunchtime.
The Centre was opened out by Sharron Davies, MBE, Olympic medallist swimmer and TV personality, who gave her support to the humanitarian actions carried out by Volunteer Ministers around the world, from disaster areas to every day problems such as handling drug addiction. Sharron has herself raised over £12 million to help children and others through her charity "Swim for Life."
The Volunteer Minister Centre, which has been travelling around the UK throughout the year, includes demonstrations of simple practical methods to help deal with the daily problems in life, and also shows the work carried out by the Volunteer Ministers in disaster areas, such as in the immediate aftermath of the September 11th disaster. The Scientology Volunteer Ministers became the "fourth emergency service" at the scene of Ground Zero, working alongside the Fire Brigade, Red Cross and the Police.
The Centre has displays of the activities of the Volunteer Ministers around the world including video footage from Ground Zero, New York, and photographic displays of their work at other disaster areas such as the earthquakes in Japan, India and Mexico. It also includes seminars and lectures about the activities and practical methods devised by Scientology's founder L. Ron Hubbard, used to help people deal with every day difficulties, and with the trauma caused by accidents and illnesses.
The Scientology Volunteer Minister Programme was developed in 1976 by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard to enable individuals from all walks of life to provide practical assistance to others.
Church of Scientology spokesperson, Graeme Wilson, said, “The practical methods that Scientology Volunteer Ministers are trained in can be learned by anyone, of any age, race or creed. They are there to help people to help themselves and others. With rising drug abuse, failing marriages, conflicts between different communities, and soaring crime rate, we are making these methods widely available, so that anyone can learn them. We are delighted to bring the Centre to Leicester Square, thus making these methods available to thousands of people.

Tom Cruise - Scientology Award Winner
Tom Cruise is many things to many people but one thing he really exemplifies is being a Scientologist.
In October 2004 Tom Cruise was awarded the International Association of Scientologists Freedom Medal of Valor the first time this Scientology award has ever been given. And with all he's done to make Scientology solutions and technology available to people he has certainly earned this honor. Here are articles where he has expressed his views on the Church:

The past few years have seen a greater expansion of Scientology than any time in its history.
All new religions have been met with some opposition. Remember the early days of Christians in Rome?
But the late 20th and early 21st Centuries have presented a problem other new religions have not had to face (and advantages as well, certainly).
Because Scientology is no "the same as" other religions, it is sometimes not so easy to understand what it is. And because Scientology applied religious philosophy deals with all aspects of life it is sometimes hard to convey what it is and what it does.
There is a DVD I highly recommend, called "This is Scientology". This is a speach by Chairman of the Board Religious Technology Center, Mr. David Miscavige. This doesn't just "explain" Scientology, it gives you concrete examples of what we are doing right now to create a better life.
These are tools every family and community needs, no matter their religion.

I am throwing my blog open to my friends who are on the ground in Thailand, helping in the aftermath of the tsunami.

These friends are all Scientology Volunteer Ministers, and I now their help is incredibly valuable, from what I've read about it at the Scientology Volunteer Minister web site.

L. Ron Hubbard's legacy is the help he provides today for people in all walks of life. No where is this more apparent than in the humanitarian applications of his work in handling drug abuse, illiteracy, crime and immorality.
David Miscavige, Chairman of Religious Technology Center, describes these as the four horsemen of the apocalypse, and that is a perfectly apt description.
Our modern world is so polarized. More billionaires in the US than ever before in history, almost all the material wealth of this planet invested in a small proportion of its inhabitants, while people are starving to death in Sudan, the chocolate plantations of the Cote D'Ivoire is dependant on child slaves stolen or purchased from neighboring African countries, and illiteracy cutting the 3rd world populations off from the technological benefits that could "equalize" and integrate these cultures with the West.
And no technology of study to help raise these 3rd world countries into their rightful place in the community of man.
Until L. Ron Hubbard's discoveries and the technology of study he developed.
Known as "Study Tech" or "Study Technology" this tech is so simple a 1st grader can learn it easilty, and it is so effective it can restore a burnt out graduate student to a love of his or her subject, can raise test scores throughout an entire school system, and can help anyone of any age learn whatever they want to learn.
Sounds impossible until you look into it. Then you wonder why no one else ever discovered it before! That's the way with many of L. Ron Hubbard's discoveries. They are so simple, so basic, that they are easy to learn but are incredibly powerful.

Applied Scholastics is a non-profit organization that trains teachers, tutors, parents and mentors in Study Tech. Applied Scholastics is located in St. Louis on a beautiful campus, fully equiped to do this training. Church of Scientology New York
Well, New York is a pretty swinging city with a lot going on all the time.
News is that the new Church of Scientology premises will be officially opened in the very near future. From all accounts this is a pretty amazing building and well worth taking a look at.
I don' t know if I'll be in the area for the grand opening but it would be great if I can.
Another fun place with a new building soon to open is Madrid, Spain. I have a picture here of the beautiful new building.
